The design of the Ebay site isn't exactly the best around, but it serves its purpose well. It's simple, but functional. There's no banner ads, Java or Flash to slow the site down.

You can either browse for what you want though the hierarchical categories or use the search engine. Browsing is simple, despite the thousands of items for sale, because of the tree-like way items are listed. The search engine is very good too. You can choose to search for items only in your country if you aren't willing to/can't send money abroad, you can exclude words from your search which is very useful if the word you search for regularly comes up with irrelevant items. You can search within a specific category only, which is useful in the music section where you only want CDs for example.
