Truly quirky, this mock documentary is part musical, part farce, and completely, oddly innocent. This is a one-man-band job for David Byrne (lead singer of the Talking Heads), who writes, stars, and directs, It's ostensibly about the sesquicentennial celebration of a small Texas town, but it's really about strange characters and strange attitudes. Byrne is our guide, driving us around and giving tour information about Texas in an innocuous patter, frequently running into Louis Fyne (John Goodman), a lonely man looking for love. At various times, and with little provocation, the film swoons into a Talking Heads number with preachers and bar patrons belting out tunes. If you make room for it, however, True Stories can surprise and delight with its inventiveness and its unconventional treatment of the residents. A scene in which a construction worker launches into an aria, on a makeshift stage when no one else is around, is but one example of numerous such moments in this bizarre, delightful, and benign film. Any Talking Heads fan who doesn't own it should. --Keith Simanton

They Shoot Movies, Don't They? ...The Making of Mirage- To begin, this movie has a great beginning; it pulled me right into it.This is something not usually seen in movies of this type, so it makes it an unusual, yet pleasant experience.The action scenes are really great. Tom Paul Wilson played his role great. Adele Baughn actually caught my interest.

I think Tom Paul Wilson and Adele Baughn worked wonderful in They Shoot Movies, Don't They? ...The Making of Mirage. The great supporting cast includes Tom Paul Wilson, Adele Baughn, Anadel Baughn, Ari Barak, Craig Lachman.

All in all, I would rate this movie an 8.5/10. I would definitely watch this movie again.

Summary of They Shoot Movies, Don't They? ...The Making of Mirage:
The line between fact and fiction is often blurred in Hollywood. A true story based upon a lie. Tom Paulson, a fledging baseball superstar suffers an injury and is forced to quit. Never to be held down, he follows his creative heart to the heart of Hollywood, where he scores a much sought after position with a large movie studio. But it doesn't turn out to be all the glitter he was expecting.

Just three years in, Tom leaves his cushy corporate job in Hollywood to pursue his own venture as a independent filmmaker. During the shoot, changes occur and things happen that result his funding being reneged. But he must finish the film. Tom begs and borrows to complete the picture, but to little avail. Viewers give tons of feedback, telling Tom that the film is "interesting," but still offer up little cash. As a last ditch effort, Tom sells his baseball card collection and heads East through the desert...

His story ends in a Vegas hotel room.
